Arbor Realty Trust, Inc.'s (NYSE: ABR) General Counsel and Secretary Walter Horn assumed the additional title of director of compliance. Also, Arbor Commercial Mortgage, LLC appointed Guy Milone as general counsel, senior vice president.

AvalonBay Communities, Inc. (NYSE: AVB) announced the promotion of several executives within the company. COO Tim Naughton was promoted to president; Dirk Herrman was named senior vice president, chief marketing officer; Larry Scott was promoted to senior vice president, development for Southern California; Bernard Ward, senior vice president of property operations for the West Coast; Nathan Hong, vice president of development for Northern California; Scott Kinter, vice president of construction for New England and New York; Michael Roberts, vice president of development for the Boston area; and Mona Stahling, vice president of operations.

Christopher P. Tessitore was named senior vice president and assistant general counsel at Commercial Net Lease Realty, Inc. (NYSE: NNN). Also, Chairman James Seneff Jr. and vice chairman Robert Bourne retired from Commercial Net Lease's board of directors.

Feldman Mall Properties, Inc. (NYSE: FMP) announced the appointment of Thomas E. Wirth as CFO. Also, Jeffery Erhart was named general counsel and Sheryl Wolf was named chief accounting officer.

First Industrial Realty Trust (NYSE: FR) promoted Senior Regional Director David Harker to executive director of investments.

David Fitch, president of Gables Residential Trust (NYSE: GBP), assumed the title of CEO. Fitch succeeded Chris Wheeler, who will remain executive chairman.

General Growth Properties, Inc. (NYSE: GGP) named David Pratt senior vice president of asset management.

GE Commercial Finance Real Estate (NYSE: GE) announced two promotions within the Midwest region office of the North America Debt group. Sean O'Malley was named regional director and Christy Lockridge was named senior director.

Parkway Properties, Inc.'s (NYSE: PKY) Executive Vice President and CFO Marshall Loeb resigned. Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning and Investor Relations Sarah Clark will assume the role of CFO until a replacement has been found.

Barry S. Sternlicht, founder of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc., resigned as executive chairman and announced he was stepping down from the company's board. Sternlicht retired as CEO last year after leading the search for his successor, Steven J. Heyer. Current director Bruce W. Duncan has been elected chairman of Starwood's board and Lizanne Galbreath was named to fill the vacancy on the board.

Lynn Thrower was appointed vice president and chief accounting officer at Shurgard Storage Centers, Inc. (NYSE: SHU).

United Dominion Realty Trust (NYSE: UDR) named Moises Vela Jr. senior vice president, multicultural strategy.
