Ernest Rady, executive chairman of American Assets Trust, Inc. (NYSE: AAT), was named “San Diego Person of the Year” for 2014 by U-T San Diego. Rady was recognized for his philanthropic acts in San Diego, including a gift of $120 million to the Rady Children’s Hospital.
AvalonBay Communities, Inc. (NYSE: AVB) named Matthew Birenbaum chief investment officer and Sean Breslin chief operating officer. Previously, Birenbaum served as executive vice president for corporate strategy and Breslin served as executive vice president for asset management.
Brandywine Realty Trust (NYSE: BDN) named Daniel Palazzo vice president and chief accounting officer. He formerly served as Brandywine’s vice president of asset management for the Pennsylvania region from 2006 until 2014.
DDR Corp. (NYSE: DDR) named David J. Oakes as its new CEO. He was most recently president and CFO of DDR.
DuPont Fabros Technology, Inc. (NYSE: DFT) said Christopher Eldredge will succeed Hossein Fateh as president and CEO. Fateh will continue to serve as the company’s vice chairman.
EastGroup Properties, Inc. (NYSE: EGP) agreed on an executive succession plan whereby Marshall Loeb has been appointed to the positions of president and COO. Loeb will become president and CEO on Jan. 1, 2016, succeeding David Hoster II, who has been president since 1994 and CEO since 1997. Hoster will become chairman of the company’s board of directors. Loeb most recently served as president and COO of Glimcher Realty Trust.
Federal Realty Investment Trust (NYSE: FRT) appointed Michael Ennes to the newly created position of vice president for residential branding and operations. Ennes was previously a senior director with Hilton Worldwide.
Heidi Roth has been promoted to executive vice president, chief accounting officer and controller at Kilroy Realty Corp. (NYSE: KRC).
Kimco Realty Corp. (NYSE: KIM) said Vice Chairman and CEO David Henry will retire on Jan. 1, 2016. He will be succeeded as CEO by Conor Flynn, Kimco’s current COO and president.
Eric Mendelsohn was named executive vice president of corporate finance at National Health Investors Inc. (NYSE: NHI). Mendelsohn previously served as senior vice president of corporate development with Emeritus Senior Living.
Physicians Realty Trust (NYSE: DOC) named Bradley Page to the newly created position of senior vice president and general counsel. Page has served as the company’s primary outside legal counsel.
Lily Yan Hughes has joined Public Storage (NYSE: PSA) as senior vice president, chief legal officer and corporate secretary. Hughes previously served as vice president and associate general counsel at Ingram Micro.
Sovran Self Storage Inc. (NYSE: SSS) named Edward Killeen COO and Paul Powell chief investment officer. Killeen joined the company in 1997 and most recently held the title of executive vice president of real estate management. Powell has served the company in various capacities since 1997, most recently as executive vice president of real estate investment.
Washington Real Estate Investment Trust (NYSE: WRE) named Stephen Riffee executive vice president and CFO-elect. Riffee previously served as EVP and CFO for Corporate Office Properties Trust (NYSE: OFC).
