Black History Month

Annually, February presents a designated opportunity for us to pause, reflect, and celebrate the invaluable contributions of Black Americans on our country, fostering a collective appreciation for the culture’s rich history and enduring impact.

Black History Month (BHM)—along with other awareness months throughout the year—serves as a reminder to celebrate diversity, promote equality, and continue the ongoing journey toward a more inclusive and equitable future. Nareit sees this as an additional opportunity to share ways in which its member REITs are working to increase the industry’s visibility, accessibility, and appeal by intentionally focusing on people, partnerships, and philanthropy.

This year, we’re sharing stories about the efforts REITs and other organizations are taking to advance education, workforce development, and business relationships within the industry to help foster welcoming, accessible, healthy, and inclusive workplace practices and cultures.

We invite you to join us all month long, during this 48th annual celebration of BHM, as Nareit highlights how REITs are engaging with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to expand talent pipelines and publishes a compilation of the meaningful activities that REITs are engaged in to recognize BHM within their own organizations.

By sharing these narratives, we hope to ignite conversations, challenge biases, and support the cultivation of an environment where opportunities are accessible to everyone, irrespective of their background.
