On Feb. 23, Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) reintroduced the Improving Corporate Governance Through Diversity Act, a bill that would require public companies to annually disclose the voluntarily, self-identified gender, race, ethnicity, and veteran status of their board of directors, nominees, and senior executive officers. Companion legislation was introduced the same day in the House of Representatives by Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-NY).

Nareit and other organizations like the U.S. Chamber of Commerce support this legislation.
